‘Buckingham Major’ Radiator Valves
5 year Guarantee
Any valve found to be defective in operation within 5 years of installation can be returned for prompt repair or exchange. This warranty does not cover any damage caused during or after installation by the use of unnecessary or inappropriate forces.
Fitting Instructions
Unwrap valves, preventing damage by laying them on the tissue paper in which they were wrapped. Apply sealing tape or sealant to the thread of the radiator connector. Tighten the connector into the radiator using a 12mm. hexagon key.Ensure that the rubber ‘o’ ring is in place on the connector before re-attaching the valve body. After installation clean the valves with a soft cloth. ½” and ¾” BSP/NPT parallel thread inlets – ALWAYS when tightening or unscrewing incoming pipework, use a spanner fitted to the inlet adaptor hexagon – Damage to the valve could result if these instructions are not followed. To prevent damage to the valve nuts, cut strips of cardboard from the packaging and wrap around the nuts before applying a spanner to them.
Specifications
Thermostatic valves are bi-directional. Operating temperature range approximately 5-30 degrees centigrade. Turn handwheel clockwise to decrease the temperature and vice versa. Normal room temperatures are achieved with between 1 or 2 black rings being exposed on the valve stem. Complete clockwise rotation of the handwheel will give full mechanical shutdown of the valve, overriding the thermostatic mechanism. Heating systems with thermostatic radiator valves must be fitted with relevant differential by-pass valves.
Test Pressure:
7 bar/100 psi - manual and thermostatic. Differential pressure: 0.6 bar - thermostatic only.
Pipe centre distances
The centre line of the inlet pipe of a ‘Standard Angled’ or ‘Right Angle Return’ Buckingham Major valve when fitted with a 1/2” BSP/NPT radiator connector is 49mm. +/- 2mm. from the face of the radiator inlet bush. The centre line of the inlet pipe of a ‘Standard Angled’ or ‘Right Angle Return’ Buckingham Major valve when fitted with a 3/4” BSP/NPT radiator connector is 51mm. +/- 2mm. from the face of the radiator inlet bush. *IMPORTANT – these centre distances should be used as a guide only. Radiator bushes not to British Standards and the use of thread sealing tape can alter these distances dramatically.
Valve weights
A pair of Buckingham Major valves weigh on average between 1.4 and 1.6 Kg per pair depending on the valve type and configuration.
Radiator Valves in the Making
Manufactured with a painstaking attention to detail and to strict quality control guidelines, the new Buckingham Radiator Valve range is exquisitely crafted. The traditional radiator valves are machined, giving them the style, quality and design edge over alternative and inferior cast products. The meticulous precision with which the valves are manufactured is instantly recognisable in the incredibly smooth action which results from the exactness of the fittings.
The inlet connections available in the new Buckingham valve range are:
- 14mm. compression
- 15mm. compression
- 16mm. compression
- 22mm. compression
- 1/2” NPT female threaded for iron pipe
- 3/4” NPT female threaded for iron pipe
Cast Iron Radiator connectors are available in 3/8”, 1/2” or 3/4" NPT.
The final design feature separating the new Buckingham Radiator Valves from the pack are the magnificent five spoke hand-wheel manual valves. Beautifully finished, the hand-wheels are crafted from solid walnut, effectively combining eye catching design with practical functionality.
The New Buckingham Valve range consists of over 120 options for Finishes, Configurations, Operation & Connections which makes them fully compatible for any heating solutions.
