With over 120 different options in the New Buckingham Major Valve range to choose from, selecting the right one can appear to be a little daunting so we have created a simple step by step procedure that introduces the whole range of valves, configurations and finishes to you and allows you to select the best options for your needs. At the end of the process you can add the valve to your list so that you can later retrieve it, purchase it, print or send it to an email address.
So, to start with, there are two types of any radiator valves, Manual & Thermostatic. Both types have a hand-wheel that controls the flow of water into the radiator thus regulating the temperature.
A Thermostatic Radiator Valve has a heat sensor in its stem which continually monitors the temperature in the room. If the temperature drops the valve will open allowing more hot water to pass through the radiator so increasing the temperature in the room. If the temperature in the room rises then the thermostat will close the valve, so a Thermostatic Radiator Valve will keep the room at a constant temperature and will ultimately save money on your heating. In a nutshell a Thermostatic Valve will control the temperature of the room, a Manual Valve will control the temperature of the radiator. A manual radiator valve should be used in a room where the main heating control thermostat is situated, if there is one.
